High turnout was reported from most areas in Maharashtra and Haryana as voting ended on Wednesday evening. Provisional figures show 72 per cent voter turnout in Haryana at 6 pm almost the same as the turnout of 72.3 per cent in 2009. Maharashtra was not far behind at 55 per cent (59.6% total turnout in 2009) voter turnout till 5 pm. The BJP will hope that a potentially higher turnout means a vote for change in the Congress-ruled states.
