National Commission for Women member Nirmala Venkatesh's face and name became familiar after her report on the attack on women in a pub in Mangalore. However, the report was deemed so inadequate that she was criticised extensively for it and was finally dismissed from the commission. But now, Nirmala has quit the Congress and joined the BJP in Karnataka. She had praised the performance of the state's administration in her report, and the BJP government seems to be returning the compliment.
