Congress was thrown out of power in Mizoram in 2018 after it ruled the state for ten years. At that time, it was the party's last bastion in the northeast. In this election, the Congress's state chief, Lalsawta, is also the party's chief ministerial face. The BJP will not be able to make much inroads and the people will vote the Congress back to power since both the MNF and the ZPM - the two regional parties - have overt and covert ties with the BJP, Lalsawta claimed.
