Chennai Better Prepared For Rain: Chennai Corporation Commissioner

As Chennai braces for heavy to very rainfall over the next three days following an upper cyclonic storm, Greater Chennai Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi says authorities are better prepared. With many pockets in the city inundated for nearly a week, he says alternate arrangements to pump waters have been made at such chronic inundation hotspots. Nearly 800 motor pumps installed during the earlier spells remain deployed. He has appealed to Chennaiites to stay indoors if possible and to have adequate stock of food, water and vegetable. He spoke to NDTV's Sam Daniel on Chennai's preparedness, lessons learnt and the solution.
