The Central government has decided to extend the free ration scheme by three more months, sources in the government said. The scheme was started during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. A detailed announcement on this is expected later today. Under the scheme, 5 kg of free food grains are provided per person per month. The decision to extend the free ration scheme has been taken in view of the forthcoming festive season.
