Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government" chose to spend big on infrastructure", which pans across roads, bridges, ports, power generation etc. "As a second feature, the budget also attends to the need of the health sector," she added. Nirmala Sitharaman made big announcements for states heading for assembly polls, setting aside large amounts for their infrastructure including road and railway. The government also proposed Rs 2,23,846 crore Budget outlay for health and well-being for 2021-22, compared to Rs 94,452 crore in the current fiscal, an increase of 137 per cent.
