As India Heads To The Moon, Minister Says Not To Underestimate Space Missions

India's Chandrayaan-2 is ready to go the Moon on July 15. NDTV's Science Editor Pallava Bagla spoke to Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office looking after Space Affairs. He said Chandrayaan-2 is an extension of Chandrayaan 1 with a lander and a rover, adding that Americans walked on the Moon but did not find water it was left to India's Chandrayaan-1. The minister also said not to underestimate missions. India will put a permanent mark on the Moon by putting the Ashoka Emblem of the Government of India, the ISRO logo and the Indian flag on the Moon. India's rover will carry these imprints on its wheels. By 2030, India is planning to launch its own space station.
