After five days of heavy gunbattle in the Kupwara forests following a Lashkar incursion in Kashmir valley, 17 militants and eight soldiers of Special Forces were killed. A dangerous cache of arms and equipment was also seized. Twenty-three AK-47 rifles, six grenade launchers, sophisticated satellite phones, Global Positioning System equipment, classified border maps and decoders were some of the equipment to be seized and had Iran, China and Taiwan markings. And that is not enough. The militants were highly trained in Pakistan, says the Army.
