Over 800 tourists. including elderly, women and children, were stranded in the high-altitude areas of east Sikkim after sudden snowfall. The Indian army is carrying out rescue operation in the area and the tourists are being moved to safe zones. Soldiers vacated their barracks to shelter the stranded tourists.
