Early intervention for infants and young children at risk, including the provision of an adequate and specialized support system, can alleviate the worries of many families. The inclusion of Divyang children in mainstream systems can facilitate their development and support their families. With sustained support, children with disabilities begin participating in family and community life. An estimated one-third of most disabilities in India are considered preventable if they are identified early enough and addressed adequately. In response, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) launched the Anganwadi Protocol for Divyang Children, to promote screening, inclusion, and referrals for Divyang children.
