Some 9,000 Congress leaders voted today to elect a non-Gandhi as the party chief, a first in over 20 years. When asked about whether Mallikarjun Kharge is the "official" candidate, Congress spokesperson Ajoy Kumar said, "There is nothing in this election process that even remotely said he is the choice." Mr Kumar said it is "very rich" of the BJP to talk about fair and transparent elections when their president is selected by two people.
