The government's recent announcement of amending tax laws retrospectively is slowly becoming a major cause of concern globally. The United Kingdom has warned India that such a move could adversely affect investment climate in the country, especially in the wake of British mobile phone giant Vodafone's legal battle in India over alleged unpaid taxes. Global industry groups have already outlined their concerns to the government. We debate if global confidence in India is being seriously undermined.
