On why the AIADMK and BJP alliance did not work out in Tamil Nadu, Sandeep Shastri, director of academics in Nitte Education Trust, said, "The alliance between AIADMK and BJP did not work out because the BJP saw a bigger stake in the politics of the state. BJP didn't want to be a junior player. They wanted to play big and therefore they split."
