#NDTVLifeline: Govt Proposes CCTV, 3-Month Recordings For Prescription Drug Sales
The government has proposed new rules to tighten the sale of prescription medicines, including cough syrups. Government sources say medicines meant for adults are sometimes given to children, while prescription drugs are also sold over the counter. Under the proposed rules, licensed retail pharmacies may be required to install CCTV cameras and preserve recordings for three months. The draft amendment excludes wholesale dealers and gives 30 days for objections and suggestions.
