Spain Wildfires | More Than 116,000 People Forced to Flee Homes as Spain Battles Wildfires

Evacuation centers have been set up in the Spanish capital as wildfires continue to rage across the west of the Madrid region and in the Valencia region, forcing 116,000 people from their homes. In central Spain, fires continued to burn in the provinces of Madrid, Ávila and Toledo, the last of which was added to the national emergency response plan on Saturday. "We still have some difficult hours ahead," Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said during a visit to officials leading firefighting efforts in Navaluenga, in Ávila, less than two hours northwest of Madrid. He called the night "very positive" in terms of bringing the flames under control.
