Saudi Arabia’s UN Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil told the UN Security Council on September 15 that the Houthi militia is “militarizing international straits to blackmail the global economy.” He condemned Houthi missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi territory and energy infrastructure, warning that activity in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait threatens international navigation and global trade. Alwasil reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s right to take necessary measures under international law to protect its sovereignty and assets, while urging the Security Council to act against the escalation.
