Manipur Flood Crisis: Schools Shut, Hospitals Inundated, Thousands Affected

Manipur continues to battle worsening flood conditions, prompting the state government to shut down all educational institutions - including schools, colleges, and universities - for a second consecutive day. The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) in Imphal has been inundated, forcing the relocation of patients to safer facilities. A 70-year-old man was swept away in the strong currents and remains missing. With over 5,000 people affected, and multiple rivers in the Imphal Valley flowing at or above flood level - including a dangerous breach in the Iril River - widespread inundation has been reported in and around the capital. Authorities remain on high alert over the next 24 hours, as the situation could worsen further.
