Thousands of people in Srinagar and other parts of Jammu & Kashmir took to the streets to mourn the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US–Israel strikes. Lal Chowk, the epicentre of protests, was sealed off, mobile internet was suspended, and schools and colleges were closed for two days. Protesters, including women and children, carried Khamenei’s portraits and flags, shouting slogans against the United States and Israel. The demonstrations remained largely peaceful under heavy police and paramilitary presence, with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appealing for calm.
