Karnataka Govt's New Public Places Bill: Fresh Flashpoint With RSS?
The Karnataka Cabinet is expected to discuss the proposed Karnataka State Public Places and Access Regulation Bill, 2026, aimed at regulating processions, programmes and other public events in public spaces. The proposed legislation could trigger another confrontation between the Congress government and the RSS, which had earlier approached the Karnataka High Court over permission for a route march in Chittapur. The government is also examining regulations governing the use of school and college campuses for private programmes and organised activities.
