India Revives 6 Hydropower Projects | UNSC Meet On India-Pak | Putin Dials PM Modi

In today's episode of India Global, Roughly 2 weeks since the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, the United Nations Security Council will hold closed consultations today to discuss the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. So far, out of the five permanent members---China, France, Russia, UK and the US-4 out of 5 countries have signaled support for India. Meanwhile, a week after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, India has revived 6 hydropower projects in Kashmir including increasing reservoir storage capacities at two hydroelectric projects. Once these six projects are completed, Jammu and Kashmir could generate up to 10,000 MW of electricity. This is crucial given that if the Indus Waters Treaty, or IWT, were still operational, India would have had to give Pakistan six months' notice before starting construction, during which time Islamabad would have mounted multiple legal challenges to delay or cancel the projects.
