Government Moves In To Arrest Soaring Food Prices

The government will sell additional wheat and rice in the open market in an attempt to curb rising food inflation. India has also initiated tomato imports from Nepal by removing import restrictions to bring down prices. All this as the RBI, in its monetary policy statement today, warned of an impending food price shock, and increased its inflation forecast for the year.
