Gauri Maulekhi, Trustee, People For Animals joins the NDTV - India Animal Fund #FreedomForAll telethon and talks about animal cruelty and the need of the hour. She said, "Acts of cruelty are actually symptomatic of deep mental disturbance. 100 per cent of sexual offenders in Australia were also criminal offenders of animal abuse. In India, in Hauz Khas, a man saw killing puppies with a pen knife and later was seen doing the same with his girlfriend. In order to stop people from being abusive to humans, start making animal crime a punishable offense and the law being a deterrent."
