On August 1, 1975, India and the US launched SITE, the world's first direct-to-home TV experiment. Using a NASA satellite, ISRO beamed educational content to 2,400 remote villages. Speaking to NDTV's Science Editor Pallava Bagla, spoke to Dr. Kiran Karnik a key scientist at the SITE mission, he recalls how this cosmic leap blended cutting-edge space tech with grassroots development, transforming lives across rural India and gave the world what we call direct to home TV.
