Uri town thrives on 'nutty business'
For a little town in Uri, walnuts are not just a way of life but a means of survival.Before the Partition, Lagama on the Indo-Pak border was the gateway to Kashmir and a major business centre. It lost all business after the closure of the Srinagar-Muzzafarabad road but retained the walnut kernel business.
