An eight day festival of contemporary dance in Delhi offers a new understanding of dance. It seeks to connect with dance practitioners and professionals, cutting across form and genre. The Ignite Festival features a range of dance works that fall neither in the classical category nor the Bollywood bracket. An initiative of the Gati Dance Forum, set up in 2007 to promote a sustainable environment for contemporary dance in India, the Ignite Festival of Contemporary Dance, is a response to the absence of opportunities for independent dance in India.
