India is in the middle of a serious slowdown, says economist Surjit Bhalla, appointed as India's nominee to the International Monetary Fund. Mr Bhalla, who was also on the Prime Ministers Economic Advisory Council, says projections which show growth dropping are valid. But he says after one more bad quarter, the economy will start to turn around because of the steps taken by the government and India will start to grow again between 6-7%.
