In India, more than 600 million people defecate in open and over 3 lakh children, under the age of five, die due to diarrhoea and water borne diseases. Melinda Gates shares her concern over these startling statistics and emphasizes the importance of creating awareness about toilets. This is exactly what NDTV-Dettol Swachh Express aims at doing by travelling across 8 states. The volunteers of Swachh Express bus educate the people of Shankar Camp near Vastan Kunj in New Delhi on the use of toilets and benefits of washing hands.
