PART 1 of Panna's Road to Recovery Special looks at the history of Panna Tiger Reserve. In 2009, Panna shocked the country as it was declared tiger less. The prime cause for this debacle was identified as poaching however no one has been held accountable for this mishap. The episode details out the timeline of Panna Tiger Reserve and how it came to lose all of its tigers drawing a parallel to the Sariska Crisis. The reserve saw signs of this crisis from 2004-2005. Now with the new Field Director R S Murthy being appointed, the reserve has seen a dramatic shift. Going from 0 tigers in 2009 to 30 tigers in 2014.
