Kumbh Mela is one of India's biggest religious festivals and the popularity has only increased over the years with millions converging every six years (Ardh Kumbh) or 12 years (Maha Kumbh) to soak in the divine and take the holy dip. This year the Kumbh Mela is being held in the popular pilgrim spot of 'Sangam', confluence of rivers Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati at Prayagraj (Allahabad) in Uttar Pradesh. This year the event is also being marked as Swachh Kumbh, in keeping with the ongoing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This special episode showcases the history of Kumbh, akharas and the various initiatives undertaken to make it the cleanest Kumbh ever - with no open defecation, proper waste disposal and steps taken specifically to keep the Ganga clean during the three months of the Mela.
