Effect Of Coronavirus On World Sports
The Coronavirus pandemic has brought countries to a standstill and the world of sports is not an exception either. From football leagues to various Olympic qualifying events to the lucrative Indian Premier League, the virus has affected all. In cricket, the remaining two ODIs of the India-South Africa series were called off, while the IPL which was scheduled to start on March 29, has been postponed till April 15. The 2020-21 Formula One season was also affected as the season opening Australian GP was cancelled after McLaren pulled out of the race. The NBA season also saw a last-minute suspension. The World Indoor Athletics Championships were also postponed until next year. In badminton, several prestigious high-profile tournaments like the China Masters, India Open and German Open were either postponed or cancelled.
