Climate activist and educationist Sonam Wangchuk has welcomed Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, calling it "a victory of democracy." Wangchuk, who had been on a 26-day hunger strike in support of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) movement over the NEET paper leak issue, said the focus should now shift from accountability to long-term reforms in the education system. After ending his fast following government assurances on parliamentary discussion, protection for protesting students and compensation for affected families, Wangchuk congratulated the students and supporters who led the nationwide movement, describing it as a triumph of peace, patience and perseverance.
