Death By Dowry: NDTV's Campaign For Justice, Fighting For India's Daughters

Even a single death due to dowry torture is one too many. Recently, there have been two such cases. The first involves a 28-year-old woman who allegedly faced harassment for dowry by her in-laws and died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh, Bhagpat, earlier this week. She left a suicide note written all over her body. In her note, she claimed she was trapped in a room for days and kept hungry. The second case occurred in Tamil Nadu just days before. Rithanya, a 27-year-old woman, died by suicide on June 29th, and before taking her life, she sent a voice message to her father describing the mental and physical torture she endured.

NDTV has launched a campaign for welfare and to push for solutions to this grave issue. While dowry is illegal in India, it is often given and received under the guise of gifts.
