REC's tax-free bond issue opens today offering a rate of return of 7.22 per cent. Arvind Chari of Quantum AMC says that the bond issue is attractive for investors as it offers post tax returns in excess of what is offered by fixed deposits. He however adds that with equity markets, and primary market picking up, asset allocation towards equities may dent demand for tax-free bonds.
