Siddhartha Sanyal, chief India economist at Barclays Capital, says given the fact that revenue shortfall may be over Rs 1 lakh crore in this financial year, it will be very difficult for the government to achieve the fiscal deficit target of 4.1 per cent without resorting to spending cuts.
