The recent move by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to impose a three-year lock-in period to new telecom players on sale of promoters' equity, could hit existing operators as well because of licencing rules in India. Although the move was meant to shackle the new telecom licencees like Unitech or Swan who got licences this year, but the DoT has found out that even existing operators have received new licenses.
