BRICS Summit | Inside Vladimir Putin's High-Security IL-96-300PU ‘Doomsday Plane’
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Delhi aboard his Ilyushin IL-96-300PU, one of two identical presidential aircraft used for enhanced security. Dubbed the ‘Flying Kremlin’ or ‘Doomsday Plane’, the four-engine jet doubles as a secure mobile command centre and features encrypted communications, satellite links, protected radio channels and advanced defensive systems. The 55-metre-long aircraft can fly around 11,000 kilometres and includes private suites, bedrooms, luxurious bathrooms, a kitchen, dining area and conference room, with gold-plated fittings and premium interiors.
