Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin held key bilateral talks in New Delhi on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, reviewing cooperation in defence, energy, trade, space and other strategic areas. The two leaders also discussed the conflicts in West Asia and the Black Sea region, with PM Modi reiterating India's call for dialogue and diplomacy. But another moment from the summit drew attention: Modi was seen walking hand-in-hand with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as the US closely watches India's engagement with Tehran amid its conflict with Iran. Washington has warned countries against helping Iran evade American sanctions, with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio cautioning that those assisting Tehran could face penalties.
