Bihar News | British-Era Bridge Collapses In Bihar's Bettiah; Locals Allege Years Of Neglect

A British-era bridge over the Dhanauti River in Bihar's West Champaran district collapsed on June 9, disrupting connectivity in the region. The bridge, located in Majhaulia, connected Bakharia and Karamwa villages under Lal Saraiya Panchayat and served as a crucial route for local residents. Following the collapse, all traffic movement across the bridge was completely suspended, affecting daily commuting and transportation in the area. Locals have alleged that the structure had been in a dilapidated condition for years and complained of inadequate maintenance despite repeated concerns.
