Bengaluru Tunnel Road Faces Red Flags, DK Shivakumar's Prestige Project Faces Scrutiny
Karnataka's ambitious 18-km North-South tunnel road, stretching from Hebbal to Silk Board, aims to ease Bengaluru's traffic woes by reducing commute times from 90 minutes to 45. Costing ₹18,000 crore, it is Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's flagship initiative, approved in May 2025. However, experts from IISc have criticized the project, calling it unscientific, elitist, and misaligned with sustainable mobility goals.
