A judge of the Rajasthan High Court has recommended that the cow should be declared the national animal of India and also that punishment for cow slaughter be increased to life term. This recommendation came while a large number of students were protesting at IIT Madras and Madras University against an attack on a research scholar who participated in a beef fest earlier this week.
