The premium segments continue to show greater promise in India, even as the mass segments stay under pressure. Given that there is a renewed focus from the big global premium players towards markets like India, while JLR will continue to develop its China strategy through its joint venture with Chery, it is also looking to expand its local production here in India. And Mercedes-Benz says after the year of offensive in 2013, this year will be the year of excellence, which will see it launch compact cars like the GLA and CLA in the market.
