Assam Land Patta Bill | What Assam Tea Garden Land Patta Bill Means for the State ?

In a historic move the Assam Assembly last week had passed the tea garden land patta bill amid a section of opposition MLAs opposing the move. The Assam Fixation of Ceiling on Land Holding (Amendment) Bill, 2025 has been passed in the assembly paving way for tea garden worker living in the labour lines of tea gardens also to hold land rights and pattas. While the opposition bench supported the bill, they wanted several amendments.However , it's a landmark moment for the 200 years old tea garden industry of Assam. Over 80 lakh people is associated with the tea industry. Permanent workers, temporary workers make the tea garden workers community.
