Andy Burnham Declared Labour Leader, Set To Become Britain's Next Prime Minister

Andy Burnham was officially declared leader of Britain's governing Labour Party on Friday, clearing the final hurdle before taking office as prime minister next week. Burnham emerged as the sole candidate in the leadership contest to replace outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The result was widely expected after he secured the backing of 379 out of 403 Labour lawmakers in the House of Commons. In his first speech as leader, Burnham vowed to restore hope and said he was ready to take on the responsibilities of leading both the party and the country.
