Sikkim Tunnel Collapse | 10 Killed In Sikkim Tunnel After Landslide Triggers Gas Leak

Ten bodies have been recovered from a tunnel construction site after a landslide damaged it and led to a gas leak in Sikkim, officials said. While 12 people have been rescued, over 18 are still feared trapped, they said. Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are carrying out rescue and search operations. The incident happened in South Sikkim's Samardung tunnel at 3.09 pm on Monday. Patel Engineering is constructing a section of the Teesta Stage VI Hydroelectric Project here. According to the information from Chief Minister's office, rescue teams are continuing their efforts, with more than 18 persons still expected to be inside the tunnel, although the exact number is yet to be officially confirmed.
