Gadkari's new team

Elected unchallenged with the RSS firmly backing him, Nitin Gadkari is the man who has declared a new order in the BJP. A new, Gen Next team is the next step which he is expected to come out with today.

BJP President Nitin Gadkari announced his new team of office-bearers on Tuesday.

The list is a balancing act between regions and castes. It has many new faces. But with no Jaitley like spin doctor, no Sushma like orator - it does lack charisma.

Though it wont set the house on fire - Gadkari will be happy if this ends infighting in the party.

Gadkari's new team also attempts to address inherent party weaknesses. It has leaders from all regions, it has more women, Muslims.
Gadkari's dream team is in place but not without some last-minute hiccups. The RSS contested Gadkari's first list. He met the RSS top brass. Some changes were made.

The Party Vice Presidents:

Gadkari, desperate to make people identify with the party, has given in to promoting personalities. So Hema Malini is the BJP Vice President.

Shanta Kumar was appointed the Party Vice President along with others by Nitin Gadkari.
Najma Heptullah was named the Party Vice President.
Kalraj Mishra was appointed the Party Vice President.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's name also featured in the list of Party Vice Presidents.
Bhagatsingh Koshiyari was appointed the BJP's Vice President.
Former Union Minister of State for Water Resources, Smt.Bijoya Chakravarti, was appointed the party Vice President.

Hardliner Vinay Katiyar found place in the team as a Vice-President.
Rajya Sabha member Purushottam Rupala was named as the Party's Vice President.
Karuna Shukla and Kiran Ghai (left) were appointed the Party Vice Presidents.
General Secretaries:

Advani loyalist and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, who had openly rebelled against Rajnath Singh was appointed the Party General Secretary. (NDTV Photo)

Cricket commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu was appointed the Party Secretary by Nitin Gadkari.
Smriti Irani was appointed the Party Secretary along with Shri Santosh Gangwar, Smt.Saroj Pande,Smt.Kiran Maheshwari and others.
Vani Tripathi was named the BJP Secretary.
Dr. Kirit Somaiyya's name also featured in the list of Party's Secretaries.
Santosh Gangwar was named the BJP Secretary.
Ashok Pradhan was named the Party Secretary besides Santosh Gangwar, Saroj Pande, Kiran Maheshwari, Shri Tapir Gao and others.
Kiran Maheshwari was named the Party Secretary by Nitin Gadkari.
Tapir Gao and Muralidhar Rao were appointed the Party's Secretaries.
Arti Mehra, Mayor of Municipal Corporation of Delhi, was appointed the Party Secretary.

The others who made it to the list were Smt.Saroj Pande, Dr. Laxman, Captain Abhimanyu and Shri Bhupendra Yadav.
Official Spokespersons:

To be the voice of the party and fight the media battle, Gadkari has handpicked seven spokesmen including Tarun Vijay, former editor of RSS mouthpiece, the Panchjanya.
The BJP's Muslim poster boy and former minister Shahnawaz Hussain was appointed the Party's official Spokesperson.

THe others in the list of Spokespersons were Shri Prakash Javdekar, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Ramnath Kovind and Nirmala Sitharaman.
