Into its fourth season the NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India Cleanathon was flagged off by Campaign Ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, in Mumbai. The 12-hour Cleanathon underlined the importance of the #Mere10Guz initiative, which urges everyone to clean up just 10 yards of their surroundings, and expanded the scope of the campaign this year to cover Swachh Zameen (Land), Swachh Hawa (Air), Swachh Paani (Water).

In his opening to Cleanathon 2017, Amitabh Bachchan quotes Prime Minister Modi to drive home the importance of every individual's role to clean up India, "this is mother earth. Do you ever want to spit on your mother?"
