Veteran actor Dharmendra died yesterday at the age of 89, leaving behind countless memories and films to cherish. One of his all-time iconic movies, Sholay, has brought back one of those heartfelt moments with the 1942 BSA WM20 bike, currently on display at the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.
Today, the 1942 BSA WM20 bike also holds a strong recall value, with its remembrance closely linked to cinematic fame. This is the bike on which Jai and Veeru (Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra) rode and sang Yeh Dosti in Sholay.
Pricing Of The Vintage Bike
The price of the aforementioned motorcycle today varies significantly based on location, condition, and its restoration value.
According to the pricing history of this motorcycle, it can fluctuate considerably over the years. Its price in India as of 2025 is not fixed, but recent market listings of similar vintage models range between Rs 5 lakhs and Rs 10 lakhs (INR).
Considering its association with Sholay, the demand and collectibility in India can be much higher. The presence of the original "W" (Wartime) component in this military classic also contributes to increasing its value among collectors.
Jai-Veeru's Bike At IFFI
What was meant to be an iconic celebration of 50 years of Sholay turned out to be an emotional occasion for fans of Dharmendra at the ongoing IFFI in Goa.
The 1942 BSA WM20 bike that Jai and Veeru were seen riding in Sholay has been kept in a glass enclosure from day one of the film festival. Fans walk past it, take pictures, and sometimes stand quietly to soak in the memory of the iconic "prop".
Though it was not a planned tribute, with Dharmendra dying on November 24, at the age of 89, a wave of nostalgia seems to have swept the venue.
Sholay is re-releasing in a restored 4K version on December 12, 2025, titled Sholay: The Final Cut. It is a celebration to mark 50 years of the film.
