There are many ways to wind down after a long day. Some people read a book, some put their phones away, while others turn to breathing exercises, meditation or simple self-care rituals. Actor Vidya Malavade has her own bedtime routine, and she recently shared three things she does before going to sleep.

In an Instagram video, Vidya spoke about Bhramari Pranayam, castor oil and cord-cutting meditation. Here is what her night routine looks like:

The first step is Bhramari Pranayam, also known as humming bee breath. Vidya recommends doing nine rounds before bed. The practice involves closing the ear cartilage, inhaling, and then making a soft humming sound while breathing out.

In her caption, she said the practice "calms the mind & reduces stress" and may help with focus, sleep, and relaxation. She also linked it to blood pressure, LDL and respiratory health.

Vidya also uses castor oil as part of her routine. She recommends putting seven drops of warm castor oil in the navel. She says this can help with bloating, mild constipation and dry skin.

She also mentioned using a castor oil pack two or three times a week. According to her, she applies the oil on her stomach and the right side of her upper back, places the pack over it and keeps it on for an hour or two.

The final step is a simple cord cutting meditation. Vidya says she mentally lets go of the people, conversations and experiences from her day.

"I prefer to bless them, say thank you and release myself before I sleep," she wrote.

She then suggests saying “cut, cut, cut” three times while making a cutting motion with the hands. For her, the practice is about releasing emotional attachments and ending the day with a clearer mind.
