Kolkata: Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty, who is all set to star in his first comedy film White Mischief in Bengali, says the audience here has evolved more to connect with such movies unlike in the past.

"The audience is changing. They are now more attuned to accept movies like 'White Mischief' with subtle dollops ofcomedy. But they can see it in the familiar Mithun Chakraborty style, with my dialogues and delivery. Let's see how things shape up once the scripting process gets over," said Mithun Chakraborty at the announcement of the movie by director Ujjwal Chatterjee.

"It is high time that you strike the iron while it is hot. So it is the most opportune moment to try different types ofBengali films as the audience is ready now," Mithun said, adding that the name suggests White Mischief will not be a typical masala entertainer but connect class and mass.

"None of my films can alienate mass, including Nobelchor. I know my films have to do well in bothmultiplexes but more in single screen theatres," the MLA Fatakesto actor said.

About Ujjwal, Mithun said "I had seen his Escape from Taliban based on the life of Sushmita Bhattacharya inAfghanistan and liked the way he projected the issue."

"So after discussion with him on the script and story for many days, I said let's start it now," he said.

"It is a sweet love story with comic overtones and I am the elder brother, one of the four protagonists in the groupof unemployed," the Disco Dancer star said.

Asked why he suddenly decided to blaze the trail of comedy in Bengali movies, Mithun said, "Certain phases come in my life which is greatly dictated by my mood. But again my previous Bengali flicks also had elements of comedy."

"I had also done comedy flick Buddhuram Dhole months back but again that was more of a mainstream type with action stunts thrown in," he said.

Asked which genres of film he believed would remain with the audience, Mithun said, "A film is a film. Besides masala and realistic I don't believe in other genres."

To a question about his previous film Nobelchor being sent to various film festivals, Mithun said, "I wish it gets more recognition."

Stating the name White Mischief denotes the frothy, light, non-harmful banter people exchange in real lifedenoting the mood at a drinking session, director Chatterjee said, "Mithun as the main lead with his trademark mannerism and glint in eyes fits the character in every way."
