Sainik School, Lucknow Begins Admission; Girls Allowed To Apply For The First Time

The school will conduct entrance examination on 14 January 2018 for selecting students for class 7 (male candidates) and class 9 (female candidates) enrollment.

New Delhi: For the first time, Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, UP Sainik School, Lucknow has started admission process for girl students for the academic session 2018-2019. In a first of its kind decision, that had garnered huge attention, the government planned to consider the admission of girls at Sainik Schools and National Defence Academy (NDA). On 11 August 2017, Union Minister Subhash Ramrao Bhamre told Lok Sabha in this regard.  To this, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley had added that Rs. 80 crore has been allocated from the Budget for these schools.

For class 9 enrollment, the school has invited applications from female candidates only born between 2 July 2004 and 1 January 2006.

The school will conduct entrance examination on 14 January 2018 for selecting students for class 7 (male candidates) and class 9 (female candidates) enrollment. Application submission process has begun for admission and candidates can apply online till 31 October 2017 (5.00 pm). Fees can be submitted till 2 November 2017 (5.00 pm).

For the examination, the school will release admit card after 15 December 2017.

In order to be eligible for the admission, applicants 'must have passed class VI and VIII for admission in class VII and IX respectively by 20 May 2018 from a recognized school.' In addition to this, 'father of candidate must be a domicile of UP.'
